Meera Marine specializes in performing complete decarbonisation (decarb) of main engines and auxiliary engines on vessels, ensuring reliable operation, enhanced performance, and extended engine life. Our skilled technicians follow industry-standard procedures with a focus on precision, safety, and minimal downtime.
- Job Planning and Safety Preparations
Prior to commencement, a job plan is created in coordination with the ship's engineer.
All safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out procedures, and isolation of systems are ensured.
Required spares, tools, and cleaning materials are arranged in advance.
- Main Engine Decarb Procedure
The engine is stopped and cooled down before starting the job.
Cylinder heads, piston units, and exhaust valves are carefully removed.
Each component is thoroughly cleaned to remove carbon deposits, using chemical cleaners and mechanical methods (wire brushing, scraping).
Cylinder liners, piston rings, and bearing clearances are inspected for wear and measured.
Components are replaced or reconditioned as required.
All parts are reassembled with proper torque settings and alignment.
Lube oil system and cooling system are checked and replenished.
- Auxiliary Engine (Generator) Decarb Procedure
Similar steps are followed as for the main engine, adapted to the size and type of the generator.
Special attention is given to fuel injectors, cylinder heads, and turbochargers.
Turbocharger cleaning and balancing may be carried out if required.
Valves are ground or replaced as per condition.
After reassembly, engine timing and valve clearances are adjusted.
- Testing and Commissioning
All repaired equipment is tested in real-time or simulated conditions.
The engines are tested on load to verify smooth operation.
Vibration, exhaust temperature, and performance readings are monitored.
Final checks are conducted in presence of ship staff and relevant authorities if required.
Through a combination of expert manpower, proven methods, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards, Meera Marine ensures all decarb jobs are carried out efficiently and reliably, contributing to optimal engine performance and fuel efficiency
